Many businesses or brands create a social media page with the hopes of people liking or following their page, but without a Social Media Strategy in place.
Before committing social media suicide, you need to know what your goals are in participating in social media.

1. Assess your social media readiness
The worst thing you can do is set up your business or brand profile on a social media platform and then ignore it or your customers and followers in need.
2. Don’t give up after a week
Networking on a social media platform, like networking in real life, is a relationship building process that won’t necessarily yield immediate results. It takes commitment and nurturing to develop a successful community.
3. Don’t be overly self-promotional
People will want to follow you because they think your updates are interesting. This includes being a thought leader, breaking industry news, having insightful blog posts or entertaining videos and so on. This does not include being bombarded with discount offerings or your latest product release.
